Several new commercial models now built on the Ford F-450 & F-550.

  August 15, 2011

Dodgen Mobile Technologies has launched several new models of commercial vehicles built on the popular Ford F-450 and F-550 cab chassis truck series. Dodgen selected the Ford trucks for a number of reasons to meet the interests of its prospects:*heavier GVWR ranges (16,000 lbs; 18,000 lbs; 19,500 lbs.)*diesel engine availability (because the Econoline series no longer offers an available diesel engine for diesel lovers)*improved cab options and “creature comforts” commonly found in new cars and SUVs.*improved leg room for both the driver and passenger seat positions*gas engine availability in heavier GVWR trucks that is not available from International, Freightliner, or most of the medium duty truck companies*very affordable factory installed 4-wheel drive options at costs far lower than the after-market upgrades offered for the Econoline trucks. Dodgen is excited to offer these new models, and is busy with development and conversion of many of its popular floor plans build previously on Econoline E-450 or the Chevrolet Kodiak C5500 trucks. The Dodgen Commercial Sales Staff welcome your inquiries on the new models and will be happy to discuss with you these new truck options for your particular application.

Dodgen Trailer Gets a Workout

May 27, 2011

In 2007 Mississippi State University purchased a 32 foot Dodgen Gooseneck Veterinary Trailer for Spay and Neuter procedures as a part of the University College of Veterinary Medicine training program. The program is under the direction of Dr. Phiip Bushby, and prides itself in teaching high volume spay and neuter procedures to veterinary students, making them aware of steps that save time, are highly efficient, and minimize any risk to the animals. To date they have performed over 23,000 procedures on-board the specially designed trailer. Students are given the opportunity to work from the trailer on two-week clinical rotations that result in each student personally performing 60 procedures on the average during that brief time. So far over 200 students have participated in that program.

In addition to the on-going teaching aspects of the trailer, the University stands ready to put the trailer into use as an emergency response vehicle to care for animals of a disaster in their immediate area. Mississippi State is very pleased with the trailer and how it has performed, and looks forward to the day that they can expand their program.

The HSUS Unveils Iowa-built Mobile Animal Crimes Investigation Lab

April 28, 2010

Animal Rescue League of Iowa teams up with The HSUS to combat animal crimes

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Humane Society of the United States joined with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa to unveil a new weapon in the fight against animal cruelty: a rolling Animal Crimes Investigation Unit. The vehicle is manufactured to contain the latest forensic equipment to help law enforcement at animal fighting or abuse crime scenes.

The Iowa press conference is the first stop in a 10-city media tour to promote the vehicle.

"This cutting-edge vehicle is an innovative tool in the arsenal of resources that we offer to law enforcement to crack down on animal fighting criminals and other abusers," said Chris Schindler, certified crime scene investigator for The HSUS.

The crime response vehicle features two fully-functional rooms for examining dogs and documenting their injuries, equipment for evidence packaging, ultra-violet lights for spotting body fluids, entomology kits, a latent print lift kit and devices for identifying suspected blood.

"Animal cruelty and fighting are both felony crimes in Iowa, and we urge law enforcement in our state to use this new tool to catch those who abuse animals," said Tom Colvin, executive director of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Facts

The Humane Society of the United States has the nation's only campaign solely dedicated to eradicating animal fighting on all fronts.

The HSUS has a national animal fighting tip line, 877-TIP HSUS as well as a reward program that offers up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in illegal animal fighting.

The HSUS assists law enforcement agencies nation-wide by providing animal fighting experts who identify evidence and supply intelligence that can lead to convictions.

The Mobile Animal Crimes Lab was made possible thanks to a grant from the Florida-based Folke H. Peterson Charitable Foundation.

Iowa-based DODGEN Mobile Technologies, the manufacturer of the unit, donated the first 10 tanks of fuel to be used as the vehicle is driven to its future home base of Washington, DC.

   Vet Services Go Mobile

Friday, August 7, 2009         Included With Permission For Use By:  Charlton Villager    www.Charltonvillager.com    Writer:  Ryan Grannan-Doll

Most dogs like to chase cars, but they may want to think twice before chasing this particular vehicle. Dr. Carol Selavka of Charlton has started Baystate Mobile Veterinary Services, which provides animal owners with at-home care for their ill pets. Selavka started the service about a month ago, driving a large van to the homes of animals in need of care. The service is available to area residents; however, she is willing to travel to residents statewide. “There was a need for it in the area,” Selavka said in an interview inside the van last Monday. Selavka, and her technician, Tanya Christian, can perform just about any type of care inside the van, including surgery, euthanasia and x-rays. The van is not outfitted to hospitalize an animal. As any animal lover knows, bringing a pet to the a regular veterinarian can be stressful. The new service is intended to reduce the stress on both the pet and owner, according to Selavka. “It just seems much more personal,” Selavka said. “It is just so much lower stress for them.” For example, Selavka x-rayed a dog last week that had impaled itself on a branch. Instead of the dog going to a regular vet, Selavka did the scan on a digital x-ray machine in the van. “The dog is doing fine,” Selavka said. So far, the service is working well for both the pet and owners, according to Christian. “The concept is perfect and it is working well,” she said. Since starting, Selavka said she done three calls daily, but would like to boost that rate to six. She serves many elderly animal owners, as well as the State Police’s K-9 unit. Many families have also requested her services, she said, because it saves them time during their already hectic days. Selavka’s experience as a veterinarian for many years convinced her the mobile services would work. Selavka said she would often receive calls at her old employer, Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital, from people who were unable to bring their pets to the facility. A departure from working in the confines of a brick and mortar veterinary facility, Selavka said working the van presents unusual circumstances. For example, whereas an animal might be taken to a closed room at a regular vet, an owner in Selavka’s van sees everything being done to the animal. The face-to-face communication, however, eases the owners’ minds and reduces the chances of malpractice occurring, according to Selavka. “It’s beneficial now. It eases the owner,” she said. “It’s just taking a little getting used to.” Selavka also uses the inperson care to educate owners, she said. She often gives them handouts she prints from the wireless Internet setup in the van. While business is just starting out, Selavka is already considering future expansion options. Selavka said she could renew her Connecticut practice license and expand her services to that state. More care vans and staff are also a possibility, she said, as well as other care equipment. ”Those are possibilities down the road,” she said. Selavka has also had to adjust to working in the tight quarters, which includes several cages and a surgical table. Selavka ordered the van brand new after learning about them at several professional gatherings. For Selavka, the venture is only the latest chapter in her years a veterinarian. Having grown up in East Hampton, Conn., Selavka worked 10 years at Angell Animal Medical Center in Springfield, from 1997 until it closed in 2007. She then worked at Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital. Pining to work with animals, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a veterinary medical doctor degree in 1995. She has been a veterinarian technician since 1995. As she rolls down the road to her next service call, Selavka will remember why she endeavored on the new service. “They” she said referring to animals, “are part of the family.”
